Temporary F/T Litigation Secretary
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Salary Range: $51,610-$62,712, Annually
The San Francisco Housing Authority is seeking a Litigation Secretary. This is a temporary full time exempt position Monday - Friday.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under general direction, the Litigation Secretary is responsible for performing a wide variety of complex secretarial and administrative activities, many of which are confidential in nature, in support of the Office of General Counsel. The classification manages office support functions; prepares a wide variety of legal documents in proper format, including pleadings, briefs, subpoenas, contracts, complaints and correspondence; opens, maintains, monitors and closes legal case files; maintains and monitors the Authority's law library; maintains attorney appointment calendars and stays abreast of important court dates; ensures legal documents are filed with courts as mandated; and provides general secretarial support to the Office of General Counsel. The classification exercises no supervisory responsibilities.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, TRAINING, LICENSES & CERTIFICATES
Any combination of education, experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying.
Formal education beyond that which is minimally required can substitute for required experience based on one (1) year of education being equal to six (6) months of experience. Experience beyond that which is minimally required can substitute for required education on a one (1) year for one (1) year basis. A typical, but not the only qualifying pattern would be:
The qualify individual must possess comprehensive knowledge of modern legal office procedures and practices, legal forms, documents and terminology; local court rules and procedures; business English, including grammar, spelling and punctuation; legal calendaring systems; and have some familiarity with civil litigation.
Education equivalent to the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major or minor course work in public or business administration or a related field. Five (5) years of increasingly responsible legal secretarial or clerical experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Word is highly preferred.
