Location: Third Baptist Church
1399 McAllister Street (Fellowship Hall)
San Francisco, CA 94115
Thursday, December 18, 2008 3:00-6:00 P.M.

This year the San Francisco Housing Authority's Family Self- Sufficiency (FSS) Program in partnership with Project F.I.N. (Families In Need) anf the San Francisco Business & Professional Women, Inc. is organizing the Fourth Annual Adopt a Family Program for our clients. Offering the opportunity to adopt-a-family during the holiday season, either individually or as a group. The Adopt a Family Program was designed to ensure a pleasant Christmas Holiday for the low-income families that are participating in the Family Self-Sufficiency Program and families receiving assistance through our new DHAP (Disaster Housing Assistance Program) for families still struggling with rebuilding their lives after Hurricane Katrina. The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) is a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program designed to assist San Francisco Housing Authority clients in becoming independent of government assistance. With the support of Project F.I.N. (Families In Need), San Francisco City College and other local agencies the FSS Program combines case management, education, and training with rental assistance to aid families in becoming self-sufficient. Currently the Family Self- Sufficiency program has 248 families that receive our services.

Here's how it works: Each family adopted provides each family members' name, age, sex and top five gifts ("A wish-list") they would like to receive. The SFHA recommends no more than two gifts are purchased for each person, to ensure equitable gift distribution between family members (and families). All gifts should then be wrapped and bagged. You then have the option of either delivering the gifts to Natasha Pulliam at the San Francisco Housing Authority's Section 8 Department on Monday, December 15, 2008 or if preferred, distribute the gifts yourself and meet the families on Thursday, December 18, 2008 for our Holiday Dinner. All items that are donated can be used as a tax write off.

If you need further information please do not hesitate to contact Natasha Pulliam, Family Self-Sufficiency Coordinator at (415) 715-3207.

We appreciate your generous donations and support to the families.
